In an organization, including those of employers and employees, involve expectations and conflicts tends to occur when expectations are not met. So it is mandatory to make sure that both parties have a clear understanding of what both parties expects from each other.
While individual employees may not always be vocal about their expectations, several studies have focused in on what employees really want in the modern business world. If the organization want to improve employee engagement and retention, organization need both a deeper understanding of employee expectations, and modern business best practices that fulfill them.
What do Employees Expect?

The above are the top five contributors to job satisfaction that have been identified. What's notable about this top five list is that respect and trust were more important to most employees than benefits, pay, or job security.
Also the employees wants to use and improve their skills, enjoy a positive relationship with their immediate supervisors and feel valued.
The Expectation issue;
Employees expect something that isn’t available and since it is not fulfilled they disengaged from their work. And when the company expect the employees will “do what they are told without costing too much”, it is the pressure on employees by the company. The maximum engagement of the employee will not be reached out.
To overcome the above mention issues, the work environment of the employee should be based on open communication. So then when the employees aren’t satisfied with the quality of the communication within the company, that can be identified and solve the issue before larger extent of the issue. The company should enables the employee to work along with the technology that make easier the work tasks to carry out efficient and effectively. And that will lead the employee to have a better sense of work-life balance.

ReplyDeleteNice, you have pointed out different aspect for this discussion. With more research done, a well experience person will do a perfect job than a fresher. But even a fresher might do a excellent job. So as you have mentioned the job description has to be specify and the expectations of both parties should be notified. But in practically, the word "experience" carries more value in job interviews.
DeleteThe experience counts a lot to perform with duly following policies, procedures, timely decisions and to be pro-active. A trainee could be employed without experience and could be molded with the job requirements over a period of time. However, there is a difference between knowledge worker and others.
